Central air conditioning
Repair, service, and replacement planning for systems that cool your home through ductwork.
Explore central air conditioningGet help with warm air, uneven cooling, and an AC system that cannot keep up. American Heating and Air Conditioning Service provides cooling repair, maintenance, and installation for Watertown and Oakville homes.

An air conditioner that runs without cooling needs a diagnosis, not a guess. Airflow, controls, electrical components, condensate drainage, and refrigerant-related problems can create similar symptoms. We evaluate the system and explain the recommended work so you can decide how to proceed.
Repair, service, and replacement planning for systems that cool your home through ductwork.
Explore central air conditioningRoom-by-room cooling options for homes without ducts, additions, and spaces with different comfort needs.
Explore ductless mini splitsSeasonal service and a chance to address developing problems before extended hot weather.
Explore cooling maintenanceA control, electrical component, or motor fault can prevent a cooling cycle. Testing helps identify the failed component rather than replacing parts by guesswork.
Restricted airflow and refrigerant-related problems can both affect cooling. The cause needs to be diagnosed before the system is returned to service.
A condensate drain or drainage problem can leave water near the indoor unit. Tell us where you see the water and when it appears.
If the problem is isolated, the equipment is otherwise in serviceable condition, and the system has been meeting your needs, repairing it can be a practical choice.
Repeated failures, a substantial repair, poor comfort, or equipment that no longer suits the house are reasons to discuss replacement. Compare the scope and cost of both options before deciding.
From the town center to Oakville and the northern road corridors, these six local reference areas help describe our coverage. Call with your street address to arrange service.

Main Street, DeForest Street, the Green, and surrounding residential streets form Watertown’s historic center. We provide central air and ductless cooling service, with attention to room layout and placement in existing buildings.

Black Rock State Park anchors the Thomaston Road corridor in northern Watertown. The map identifies the landmark, not an American Heating office. We provide cooling service along Thomaston Road. Let us know whether the system has stopped, runs warm, or cannot maintain comfort.
View Black Rock and Thomaston Road on Google MapsPlan maintenance around the system you own and the season ahead. A service visit is a chance to check operation, address routine care, and identify developing issues. It also gives you a record of the equipment’s condition for future repair or replacement decisions.
The exact checklist depends on the equipment and manufacturer requirements. We discuss the scope of the visit and any additional recommended work rather than treating every home as the same system.
Ask about ongoing care through our HVAC maintenance plans. Follow your equipment’s filter and maintenance instructions between professional visits.
A new system should solve the comfort problem, not carry it forward. We discuss the building, existing equipment, room layout, and your priorities before recommending a replacement. A clear proposal should explain what is included, how the system will serve the space, and what happens after installation.
American Heating’s installation offerings include names such as Mitsubishi, Lennox, and Carrier. The right choice depends on the type of system, the home’s requirements, and current model availability. Ask which equipment is appropriate for your project rather than choosing by brand alone.
Compare central air, ductless mini splits, and heat pump options based on the rooms you need to cool and whether suitable ducts are already in place. We review placement, access, controls, and the work required to connect the equipment.
From Watertown Center to Oakville, a home with an addition can need a different approach from one with an unchanged floor plan. We consider the property itself, including the features you want to preserve, rather than making assumptions from its age or neighborhood.
Appropriate sizing, sound installation, and operating checks help a system deliver the comfort it was selected for. We explain controls and routine care so you know how to use your equipment and when to arrange service.
American Heating advertises a $500 new-system installation offer on its Naugatuck page. Ask whether your Watertown project qualifies and confirm current terms before booking. Rebates, financing, and warranty coverage depend on the equipment and applicable requirements.
Ask about current offersReview our financing information and request the warranty details with your proposal, including parts, labor, registration requirements, and any maintenance conditions. Do not assume an advertised rebate or warranty applies to every installation.
Central air uses ducts to distribute cooling throughout the home. We assess equipment condition and the distribution system together, particularly when some rooms cool well and others do not. Replacement planning should include capacity, duct condition, return airflow, and service access.
Mini splits connect an outdoor unit to one or more indoor units. They can be useful for an addition, an upstairs room, or a home without suitable ducts. Indoor placement and zone design affect comfort, appearance, and how the system is maintained.
Many ductless systems provide cooling and heating. We help compare single-zone and multi-zone arrangements and discuss winter requirements when the system will also be used for heat. Ductless and mini split are overlapping terms, not entirely separate technologies.
Whether you need an urgent repair, a maintenance visit, or a replacement estimate, tell us what is happening and what matters most to you. We serve homes and businesses in Watertown and Oakville. For commercial work, describe the building and equipment when you call so we can confirm the appropriate service.
Temperature is only part of indoor comfort. Ask about filtration, humidity control, and indoor air quality equipment that is compatible with your system. We can discuss these options during a service visit or installation consultation.
Start with the concern you want addressed, such as persistent humidity, dust, or uneven airflow. Equipment should be selected for the system and space, not added as a one-size-fits-all accessory.
Watertown’s history begins before its incorporation, on land associated with the Paugasuck people. The town’s published history records a 1684 land transaction involving Thomas Judd and other Waterbury proprietors. European settlement developed gradually; the Garnsey family arrived in the area now known as Guernseytown in 1729. The Westbury ecclesiastical society formed in 1738, and Watertown became a separate town in 1780. Read the town’s historical overview.
The Public Green was laid out in 1772. The surrounding center grew into a collection of homes, churches, civic buildings, and commercial streets rather than a single architectural moment. The National Register nomination documents buildings in Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival styles. Many houses date from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, giving the streets around Main, DeForest, North, and Woodbury their layered character. Explore the Watertown Center Historic District record.
Industry became another part of the town’s story. The town history describes silk-thread manufacturing and the Oakville Pin Shop, reminders that Watertown’s past includes workshops and factories as well as farms and village greens. Oakville remains a distinct community within the town, not a separate town outside the service area.
The Taft School began in Pelham Manor, New York, in 1890 and moved to Watertown in 1893. Its first Watertown home was the Warren House. The school’s subsequent growth added another enduring institutional presence to the town. Its own historical account traces that move and the campus buildings that followed. Read Taft’s history.
Black Rock State Park adds a different chapter. The state identifies its establishment with a 1926 gift organized through Black Rock Forest, Incorporated, a conservation group. Today its wooded land, pond, and trails are part of Watertown’s recreational landscape. Visit the official Black Rock State Park guide.
Municipal places such as Echo Lake Park and Crestbrook Park connect the town’s residential areas to everyday recreation. The town’s facilities directory identifies Echo Lake Park on Ice House Road and Crestbrook’s tennis courts on Northfield Road. These are useful local reference points, not separate incorporated neighborhoods. See Watertown’s recreation facilities.
That layered history matters when planning work on an existing building. An HVAC assessment should respect the house in front of us: where equipment can go, how rooms are served, and which features an owner wants to preserve. The age or neighborhood of a property is context, not a substitute for inspecting it.

These guys are amazing! Frank was on time, very kind, and very knowledgeable. He diagnosed our issue extremely quickly and was able to fix it for an incredibly reasonable price. Perhaps more important, he went above and beyond to assuage our anxiety as new homeowners, and took the time show us how use our system efficiently in order to save money and reduce future stress on our equipment. We will continue to use American for all our HVAC needs
Brian P.I want to start off by saying this company now has a lifetime customer. After having an emergency with our central air unit leaking and calling every company in the truck state area including our previous company of choice, American Heating was the only company that was able to fit us in same day and get the job done at a very reasonable price. We will only use this company going forward for all our heating and cooling needs. Thank you for the quick service.
Nadia and Dimitre D.Yes. Oakville is included in our Watertown cooling service coverage. Call with the property address and a description of the problem.
Ductless mini splits may be an option. Indoor unit placement, outdoor unit location, electrical requirements, and the rooms needing cooling should be reviewed before choosing a system.
No. Oversizing can create short cycles and poor humidity control. Equipment should be selected using the home’s cooling requirements and distribution system.
Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions and arrange regular professional service. Many homeowners plan an annual cooling visit before summer, with filter care between visits as directed for their system.
Many mini splits are heat pumps and provide both heating and cooling. Confirm the model’s capabilities and how it will meet your home’s winter heating needs.
Yes. The diagnosis, repair cost, equipment condition, and comfort performance all matter. A replacement may be worth discussing if a substantial repair is needed or the existing system has ongoing problems.
